Fancy a jaunt back to the days when manners mattered and corsets might just cut the circulation? Operantics is inviting you to tiptoe through the musical drawing rooms of Jane Austen's time, celebrating 250 years since our favourite author graced the world with her wit. Expect a bit of everything from jaunty Scottish jigs to soppy ballads and cheeky arias plucked straight from the kind of comic operas that had folks buzzing in Georgian England — all neatly plucked from the Austen family's very own songbooks. Think of it as an audio time machine minus the uncomfortable breeches.
If you've ever wondered what it might have sounded like in Pemberley's parlour when Mr Darcy wasn't brooding or Elizabeth was practicing her needlework, this concert scratches that particular itch. Just don't trip over your bonnet on the way in — the music's charming enough already.
